Rotary Club of Dimapur to organise free prosthetic camp

Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): the Rotary Club of Dimapur will be organising a free LN4 prosthetic hand-fitting camp (Project Saksham) for persons with upper limb disability on June 3 at Rotary Centre, Midland, Dimapur from 7.30 AM.

A press release from the club informed  that more than 50 persons have registered for the camp, being organised jointly by Rotary Club of Dimapur(RID 3240)  & Rotary Club of Calcutta Presidency(RID 3291,West Bengal). 

The Rotary Clubs of Kohima, Mokokchung, Imphal, Polo City Imphal ,Golaghat, Jorhat, Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan,Golaghat Branch & District Disability  Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) ,Dimapur have joined hands to identify beneficiaries. 

The club further informed that LN4 Below Elbow prosthetic Hands were provided free to the beneficiaries.

Several Rotary Clubs have networked closely for the initiative. The prosthetics were imported in the country by Rotary Bangalore, and forwarded to Rotary Poona Downtown. The Calcutta chapter then reached out to various Rotary Clubs in the Eastern Region.

“This emphasses the tremendous reach of Rotary network and also ensures that the beneficiaries are provided with such advanced prosthetics virtually at their door-step that are totally free of cost, which otherwise cost Rs 150k to 300k,” the release maintained. 

Menawhile, it was informed that a technical team of Rotarians from RC Calcutta Presidency comprising of Sangita Jain (Chairperson-SAKSHAM), Ranjan Musaddi (MENTOR), Abha Lunia, Rajesh Bothra , Saswati Mukherjee, Rashmi Surana & Anju Singhee  are coming to oversee the  fitting of  hands. 

A team led by Dr DR Sharma and Dr Nitin Agarwal (both Project Chairpersons) will provide the counseling to the beneficiaries.

The arrangements for the camp are being sponsored by the Kashliwal family of Dimapur in the memory of Late Kailash Chand Kasliwal and Late Phuli Devi Kasliwal while students from Pranab Vidyapith HS School, Dimapur are providing the volunteer services to the beneficiaries.

TN Mannen, Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Development and Sachin Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner will grace a  special programme for the camp at 11 AM.
