Royal Challengers Bangalore lifts Reserve Premiere League 2021

Royal Challengers, Bangalore of Project Sector emerged champions of the 6th edition of the Reserve Premiere League 2021 at Police Reserve Ground, Kohima on December 31.

The Royal Challengers, Bangalore of Project Sector emerged champions of the 6th edition of the Reserve Premiere League 2021 here at Police Reserve Ground, Kohima on December 31.

In the finals, the match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (Project Sector) versus the Kings XI Punjab (IG Sector). Earlier, RCB won the toss and elected to bat first. The target was set at 149 runs in 20 over with a fall of 8 wickets.

In the 2nd innings, Kings XI Punjab of IG sector scored 137 runs in 20 over with 5 wickets down.

During the first innings, Supong from RCB team made a half century with 52 runs and Lennihao of Kings XI Punjab also made a half century of 51 runs in the 2nd series. Scoring 137 runs, Kings XI Punjab however failed to reach the target by 12 runs from RCB.

Overall, the highest runs scorers of the tournament was Lennihao of Kings XI Punjab with a total of 199 runs and Kechesin Keppen of Kings XI was the highest wicket taker of the tournament with 8 wickets. 

The annual RPL which is organized by the Police Union Baptist Church Youth Department had a total of 5 teams from the 6 sectors of New Reserve Colony. The teams were Royal Challengers Bangalore (Project Sector), Kings XI Punjab Chennai Super Kings (Dairy Farm NST), Sunrisers Hyderabad (Lower MT) and Mumbai Indians (Upper MT).  The match umpires of the tournament were Theja Leizietsu and Jackey. 

Earlier, in the Women's Volleyball, Lower MT emerged Champion and Dairy Farm NST was the runners up. The Reserve Premiere League commenced on December 26 and culminated at the a function here in the New Reserve Police Ground.
