RPF-NFR apprehends 3 touts

Guwahati, May 3 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) arrested 3 e-ticket touts from different locations last week, an official release informed. 

A total of 16 railway E-Tickets (both live & used E-Tickets) worth more than Rs 21,000 were recovered and three persons were arrested and prosecuted in this connection, it said. 

The raids, on specific input, were part of its effort to  check illegal sale of railway tickets, it added. 

The RPF-NFR keeps a close vigil on touting activities to prevent illegal selling of railway tickets and procurement and supply of unauthorised tickets is a punishable offence under section 143 of Railway Act, informed the release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer.
