RPF, NFR rescues minor girl, arrests trafficker

Maligaon, September 29 (MExN): Railway Police Force personnel at Guwahati railway station under the Northeast Frontier Railway zone rescued a minor girl and arrested one person in this connection on September 27. 

A press release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda informed that the minor was reportedly missing from Athalpathar village in Charaideo district of Assam since September 26.

After medical examinations and other formalities, the rescued minor and the arrested person, identified as Sunil Thakur from Barhafjan in Assam’s Tinsukia district were handed over to the OC at Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) Guwahati and a case has been registered under section 370 (A)/370(i) of the India Penal Code, Chanda stated.

Chanda meanwhile stated that the RPF has been successfully rescuing trafficked minors and runaway children from railway premises. In the year 2019, RPF/NFR rescued 854 minors from railway premises and 14 traffickers were arrested. In the current year, 136 minors were rescued by RPF and a total of 12 traffickers have been arrested till last week.
