RPF of NFR rescues 27 persons, including 22 minors, in anti-trafficking drive

MALIGAON, JULY 1 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued a total of 27 individuals, including 22 minors, during operations conducted between June 25 and June 29, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to curb human trafficking and safeguard vulnerable passengers.

According to an official release issued by its CPRO, the rescued individuals comprised 22 minors, 3 men, and 2 women, and were recovered from various railway stations across the NFR zone. All individuals were handed over to Childline authorities, NGOs, their families, or local police after due verification for further necessary action.

On June 25 and 26, five runaway minor boys were rescued by RPF teams at Katihar, Kishanganj, and Samsi railway stations and were later handed over to Childline authorities.
On June 27, the RPF team at Kamakhya Railway Station rescued a runaway minor boy, who was subsequently placed in the care of Childline Kamakhya.

A significant operation took place at New Bongaigaon Railway Station on June 28, where the RPF team rescued five minor girls along with a man. The minors were handed over to Childline Bongaigaon, while the man was detained for further inquiry and legal action.

On June 29, the RPF team at New Coochbehar Railway Station rescued a missing man who was later reunited with his family following due identification and verification.

As part of the ongoing "Meri Saheli" initiative, the RPF’s dedicated all-women squads continue to play a proactive role in ensuring the safety of women passengers, especially those travelling alone. Their vigilance and timely interventions have enhanced the security environment for female travelers across NFR.

The Railway Protection Force of NFR reiterated its commitment to passenger safety through vigilant patrolling, timely rescue operations, and focused efforts to protect women and children across the railway network.
