RPF rescues 669 minor children in 2018

Maligaon, January 11 (MExN): Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully rescued 669 minor boys and girls from railway premises like stations/trains during the period from January to December, 2018 saving them from the hands of anti-social elements. Nine human traffickers were also arrested red handed who were transporting minor girls in trains.


A press release from Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer informed that in one such case on December 17, 2018 acting on information regarding missing case of five minor boys from their homes in Dimapur and travelling by train, Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team comprising Head Constable Bikram Bose and Constable AK Singh checked Brahmaputa Mail and detected three of the boys. Further search was conducted on December 18, 2018 by Inspector RPF Nayeem Uddin and staff of Lumding Post at Lumding railway station and detected the two other minor boys.


In another such case on January 19 one missing minor boy was rescued from at Katihar railway station. The boy had gone missing at Katihar station while travelling along with his parents.


The release further mentioned that RPF has been successfully rescuing run away child as well as child from the clutch of traffickers regularly. Rescued children are normally handed over to their parents or various NGOs like Child Line. Various squads of RPF conducts regular checks at railway premises to prevent such cases, it added.
