RPF/NFR rescue minor girl, apprehend kidnappers

Maligaon, October 23 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued a minor girl after she was found with three persons at the computerized reservation centre at Guwahati Railway Station.

According to a press release from NFR   Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda, on  October 14, on duty RPF personnel detected three persons with a minor girl at the computerized reservation centre at Guwahati Railway Station and detained them.

On enquiry, it was found that the minor girl was kidnapped and her father had reported the kidnapping. The suspected kidnappers revealed that they were planning to flee to Kerala by train along with the minor girl. Later, the apprehended persons and the girl were handed over to Alopatti Char Police Station of Barpeta district.    

As per the release, the RPF personnel also recovered a total of 34.55 kg cannabis from Railway premises over the NFR zone during last four days and also apprehended two touts.

A team of RPF personnel at Alipurduar on October 19 conducted a surprise checking at New Coochbehar Railway Station and found a woman trying to board 02346 Guwahati-Sealdah Special carrying a big bag.

On checking her bag, 14.05 kg cannabis along with one railway ticket, Rs 13,460 in cash and one mobile phone were also recovered from her possession.

In another incident, a team of RPF conducted a search operation at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station on 02346 Guwahati-Sealdah Special and recovered two unclaimed bags containing 20.5 kg cannabis on October 21, Chanda informed.

Meanwhile, a team of RPF apprehended one person for illegally procuring and selling railway E-Tickets from a travel agency near Digboi station and seized 11 Railway tickets worth Rs 43,231, one computer set, one printer and other accessories from his possession on October 21.

According to Chanda, another team of RPF conducted surveillance at the computerized reservation centre at Guwahati Railway Station on October 22 and apprehended one person for running illegal business of procuring and supplying railway tickets. The RPF team recovered two railway tickets, one Xerox copy of railway ticket from his possession and found transactions for another two tickets in his mobile phone. Value of the recovered railway tickets is Rs 5640, Chanda informed.
