Dimapur, September 16 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party has cautioned the Government of Nagaland that conducting the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) in its present format would nullify the whole idea of transparency and fairness.
Submitting a representation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland on Friday, the RPP called on the government to implement transparent procedures in the NSSB examinations.
The RPP, stating that it was unable to comprehend why it is so difficult for the government to put in a system which will benefit hardworking and sincere students and pave way for the establishment of a merit-based society, further made a few recommendations.
t included the use of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets with carbon copy so that candidates can self-evaluate their marks as well as publication of correct answer leys within a week after conduct of examinations.
The Party also stated that it has been reminding the government that there should be no interview system in the NSSB selection process since written examination itself should suffice to choose candidates at this level.
“You may be well aware that the interview system in the NPSC has led to no holds barred nepotism and corruption for decades on and it’s the desire of the lot that enough is enough; that meritocracy should prevail in competitive examinations henceforth,” it said.
“Legacy matters and perhaps it is important that we do what is right especially when the issue concerns the younger generation,” stated the representation which was appended by RPP Secretary Akum Longkumer and General Secretary Amai Chingkhu.
