RPP gives Nagaland government 7 days to withdraw notification for dept exams

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) submitted a memorandum to Nagaland Chief Secretary, giving the state government 7 days to fulfill its demands with regard to operationalizing of the NSSB and immediate ban on conducting departmental exams through Departmental Recruitment Boards (DRBs), among others.

In the memorandum which was submitted on August 13, the party demanded that the July 14 cabinet decision and subsequent DPAR order on July 16 to allow filling up of various 1,517 posts in 76 government departments be withheld as “it violates the undertaking (Affidavit) submitted by the then Chief Secretary of Nagaland to the High Court, Kohima Bench, in the matter of PIL No. 11 (K) of 2015, ACAUT vs The state of Nagaland &Ors in 2016.”

The undertaking pertains to the “Ban on appointment on contract basis” which was submitted to the court by the government during the course of the PIL hearing, it said.

Reiterating that the vacant posts should be advertised and filled only through NPSC and NSSB recruitment exams, the RPP also demanded that the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) be made functional immediately in order to conduct recruitment exams.

Stating that bypassing the NSSB and illegally empowering the DRBs to conduct the recruitment exams is contempt of court, the party demanded that the notification be nullified within 7 days from the date of submission of the memorandum, failing which it would be compelled to seek remedial measures.

Further, the decision for relaxation of age for entry into government service should be revised with relation to the date of publication of advertisement for the benefit of students or candidates, it added.
