RSBY to cover other seven dists in Nagaland by April

Kohima | April 10 : The enrolment has already started for implementation of the second phase of Rashtriya Swasthya Yojana (RSBY) from Longleng, Tuensang Kiphire district which will be further extended to Mon, Wokha, Zunheboto and Dimapur districts by April 2011 and is expected to cover another 80,000 families.
In the first phase, more than 39,000 RSBY smart cards were issued in Nagaland during 2010-11 covering four districts- Kohima, Peren, Mokokchung and Phek.
This scheme is implemented through the ministry of labour & employment, to benefit the unorganised sector workers with special reference to BPL families.
In Nagaland, the department of labour is successfully implementing the scheme as the nodal agency. Nearly 4000 beneficiaries have already availed free medical treatment in the state through the empanelled hospitals till date.
It may be recalled that during 2009-10, Nagaland was awarded the national award in RSBY programme implementation for best performing state in the north east and national individual achievement award was awarded to the project officer of the department.
According to the annual administrative report of the labour department tabled in the just concluded assembly session, Nagaland state was awarded again for achieving the highest enrolment percentage in the country making a 3 national awards for the state under the scheme.
