Vehicles ply through circular road in Tseminyu District HQ.

Kohima, February 12 (MExN): The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) today submitted a representation to the State Government, urging the restoration of the circular road within Tseminyu district headquarters (HQ).
In a representation addressed to the Director of Urban Development, RSZ highlighted that while Tseminyu was officially recognised as Nagaland's 13th district on December 18, 2021, and formally inaugurated on February 24, 2022, the circular road remains in a “deplorable” condition.
“Despite its status as a district headquarters, the condition of the circular road within Tseminyu remains deplorable, causing immense inconvenience to residents, students, and daily commuters,” RSZ President Kegwayhun Tep and General Secretary Hiyalo Jemu.
The worsening road conditions have resulted in excessive dust pollution, posing serious health risks and increasing the likelihood of accidents caused by potholes, it maintained.
Students, particularly those in school uniforms, as well as office-goers and other commuters, face daily hardships due to the dusty environment. Prolonged exposure to such conditions is bound to lead to respiratory illnesses and other long-term health complications, affecting the well-being of the general public, it added.
The RSZ also expressed concern that if the road is not restored with proper drainage and blacktopping before the onset of the monsoon, the situation will deteriorate further.
The absence of a well-maintained road will make vehicular movement nearly impossible during the rainy season, leading to increased hardship for the public, with essential services—including medical emergencies and the transportation of goods—severely hampered, it added.
Accordingly, the RSZ appealed to the concerned authority for immediate intervention to facilitate the restoration of this critical circular road within Tseminyu district HQ. “The safety, comfort, and well-being of the residents cannot be compromised any longer,” RSZ stated, adding that prioritising this matter before the monsoon will not only alleviate the daily struggles of residents but also ensure a healthier and safer environment for all.
