RTI application sees decrease during 2019-20 in Nagaland

The total number of RTI application received by various Public Authorities in Nagaland during 2019-2020 saw a decrease in number of RTI application at 2688 compared to previous year 3708.

The overall percentage of information furnished by the PIOs of various Public Authorities during 2019-20 was 89.36%.

The rate of rejection of request for information during 2019-20 was 0.63%, according to annual report 2019-20 of Nagaland Information Commission tabled by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at the 8th session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on August 3.

During the period under report, out of the 2688 applications, the Directorates received the highest number of RTI application in the state at 42%, followed by the Districts at 40%, Secretariat at 11% and other units (which include Commissions, Boards, Missions, Statutory Bodies, Autonomous Bodies, PSU etc) at 7%.

The period for 2019-20 shows male applicants dominated a large chunk of RTI applicants as compared to female applicants, the percentage and the number of female applicants continued to remain very low at 5.30% and had decreased from that of the previous year which was 5.80% in 2018-19.
