Kohima, Sept 21 (MExN): As a continuation of the community-led efforts of Run for Hope 2026, the Global Shapers Kohima Hub on September 20, handed over the registration proceeds from the 5 km community run to two organizations working in the field of mental health and suicide prevention—Gracious Life Foundation, Chümoukedima and the State Mental Health Institute, Kohima.
The Hub fulfilled its commitment to contribute the entire registration proceeds from Run for Hope 2026 towards supporting mental health initiatives.
A total of Rs 22,400 was contributed with Rs 11,200 in cash to the Gracious Life Foundation, along with utilities and recreational equipment worth Rs 11,200 for the State Mental Health Institute, Kohima.
This contribution was made as a token of support on behalf of all the participants of Run for Hope 2026.
The handover follows Run for Hope 2026, a 5 km community run organized by the Global Shapers Kohima Hub on 10 September at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.
Held under the theme “Every Step Gives Hope,” the initiative mobilized approximately 450+ individuals, with nearly 200 participants completing the run. The event sought to encourage open conversations around mental well-being and suicide prevention while turning community participation into direct support for local mental-health efforts.
Speaking on the initiative, the organizers highlighted that the donation represents the collective contribution of everyone who participated, volunteered, supported and partnered with the run. The initiative was intended not only to raise awareness but also to channel tangible resources towards organizations working directly with communities and individuals affected by mental health concerns.
The Global Shapers Kohima Hub expressed its appreciation to the participants, volunteers, sponsors, partners and supporters whose contributions helped make the initiative possible. The Hub further stated its commitment to carrying forward the spirit of community participation and supporting conversations and initiatives around mental well-being in Nagaland.
