Ruovilhoukho Chuzho, a 27-year-old handicraft entrepreneur from Medziphema village was awarded the ‘Excellence Award’ sponsored by Fenesta, a company specialized in window designs.

Excellence Award is an initiative of CAN Youth to promote, support and encourage school and college drop-outs who use their creativity, skills and utilize their own ideas for creating amazing things to make a living despite of their struggle and hardships.

The award ceremony was held at Hotel Saramati with director, Music Task Force, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, as special guest, who also presented the award citation to Chuzo.

The special guest in his address congratulated Chuzo and said it is because of the ‘Never say die’ attitude of the handicraft entrepreneur that propelled him to the top and encouraged the youth to imbibe such an attitude.

Sothu said Nagas, especially the youth should break out from the shell of mediocrity and strive for excellence. He said three traits the younger Naga generation must imbibe to make a difference and help build a better society and state include integrity, devotion to one’s profession and dignity of labour.

He lamented that in the present Naga context, Nagas have forfeited honesty and integrity, the traits of Naga forefathers, and have become victims of deceit and “unbecomingness.”

“If we want to paint a bad picture of Nagaland, the list is endless. But if we want Nagaland to grow we have to push bad (negative) things behind and take good (positive)things to the front”, Sothu said.

Chuzho, the recipient of the award, in his acknowledgment speech narrated the hard times of his early youth and how he finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel through the amazing grace of the Almighty.

Presently, Chuzho owns a is the proud proprietor and owner of three enterprises namely “Collection Store”, “Chop Stick Restaurant” and “Rovi Collection” (renamed Naga Feathers, which trains and help school drop outs and unemployed youths in crafts for free).

Earlier, chief functionary of CAN Youth, Jenpu Rongmei, delivered the keynote address.
