In light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict which has devastated the lives of millions of people in the region and has affected global peace order, a public peace rally was organised by the Dimapur Baptist Women Union (DBWU) at Holy Cross Junction, Dimapur.

Under the banner ‘To Stop War between Russia & Ukraine,’ the peace rally took place in the early hours of March 30 and commenced from Holy Cross junction towards Bata Chariali traffic point.

On the occasion, DBWU President, Khontele Seb stated that, ‘Our purpose of gathering here today is to show our solidarity with the victims of war between Russia and Ukraine. It has been more than a month now since the conflict began; we keep hearing and watching about how guns and bombs have ended so many lives.’

She also said that it was heartbreaking to see millions of people fleeing their own country leaving behind their fathers, old parents and the sick to their fate and that it was distressing to see such tragedies taking place. She further mentioned how the war has separated so many families and individuals, and so many people have been left behind in the turmoil that ensued.

‘We are gathered here today, to pray for their hardships, pain and suffering and to seek God’s intervention in this issue,’ she added.

She further shared that, ‘We want the victims of war to know that we are with them in prayer. We also want to show our concern to stop the destructive war.’

A mass prayer was later held at the meeting point which was participated by women from all sections of the society in their traditional attires.
