SHAMATOR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Rurur Village Council (RVC) has announced an indefinite bandh on all vehicular movement starting October 2. This decision comes in response to a 10-day ultimatum issued to the Deputy Commissioner, Shamator on September 21, which has not been addressed. According to a press release, the RVC has been demanding urgent repairs and maintenance for the deteriorating Shungkiu to Muruhki Diversion Road (NH-202), which has become a significant safety hazard.
The failure of authorities to take action on this matter has prompted the council to restrict vehicle movement within the affected area, it stated. While the bandh will halt all vehicle traffic, alternate routes have been designated for light vehicles, allowing access from Shungkiu via Rurur-Pungrungru village, Yinchkiur village, and Kiphire, as well as from Shungkiu via Rurur Village to Sikiur Village and Anatongre village, the press release informed.
