
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 29 (MExN): Pledging development and proper representation of the people, S Toiho Yeptho, on January 28 declared his candidature for the upcoming state Assembly election from 33 A/C Suruhuto. Toiho announced his candidature in the presence of supporters and representatives from 29 villages under the constituency.
While disclosing that his party affiliation would be declared later, Toiho assured his supporters that the decision would be made after deliberation, and with the best interests of the constituency in mind.
Acknowledging the good works done by the area's elected representatives before him, he however maintained that there is still more to be done, and pledged his full commitment towards the development of the constituency.
Addressing a sea of supporters on Saturday, Toiho stated that an area's elected representative is expected to serve and represent the people. As such, he pledged proper and full representation of his constituency. Toiho also highlighted youth empowerment, employment and skill development as some of his key objectives.
Lamenting the shortage of opportunities and employment avenues, he pitched his aim to provide better platforms for the youth in order to avoid an impending "poverty" for the future generation. Among other objectives, Toiho also spoke of his intention to improve livelihood for the farmers and those engaged in the agri & allied activities.
Proper utilisation of funds, development and maintenance of roads etc, were also among the objectives shared by Toiho.
Former Minister Kiyezhe Aye and ex-Parliamentary Secretary Shetoyi Yeptho were among the dignitaries accompanying Toiho in Suruhuto on January 28.
