DIMAPUR: The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi (TKLD), a unit of the Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD), the apex body of the Tangkhul students living in Delhi is organising for the first time a ‘Traditional Cultural Exhibition-cum-Evening Programme’ under the theme “Back in the Surging Centuries” on 30th September, Friday at Shah Auditorium, Rajniwas Marg, Civil Lines, Delhi.

Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Sachin Pilot will be the Chief Guest according to a press communiqué issued by Somiham Shatsang, President of TKLD. Manipur MP Mani Charenamei will be the Guest of honour.

“We have come so far from the head hunting stage to the nation stage period. Historically the Nagas valued a self-determined life without the interference of the outsiders. The nature of their independent existence is because of their strong village system”, the TKLD stated while pointing out to the significance in terms of the Nagas’ journey from the ancient times to the 21st Century adding that the history of Nagas’ resistance movement since 1832 till today against the non-Nagas could be traced to this very nature of their independent existence.

The TKLD hoped that the coming programme would showcase the unique, distinctive and rich cultural heritage.

The TKLD also informed that many distinguished Foreign Dignitaries have also been invited. All the 18 Tribal Units of the NSUD and other Students’ Union have also been invited. Many Naga tribes will take part in the event for cultural exchange. The event will also make possible an interaction between the Indians and the Nagas, it was stated.
