
Kohima, December 11 (DIPR): The office of the Account General (A&E) Kohima, Nagaland inaugurated the SAI (System Automative Initiative) Pension Project with SMS (Short Message Service) Gateway on December 10 with Chief Secretary, Lalthara, IAS as chief guest and Director General of Police Nagaland, O. Alem IPS as guest of honour at the Office of the Accountant General Kohima, Nagaland. This service is intended to relief pensioners with an organized and efficient system.
The inauguration was marked with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest. The chief guest said that this service is a boon to the pensioners and he lauded the efforts of the AG Office for achieving this milestone during their time and said that future pensioners now have the advantage of checking their pension status in the comforts of their homes while also being assured of their privileges. He also believed that fake pensions experienced in the earlier days due to extortions and social pressures will now be over, with such services providing a tight check. Back lock problems faced by the office for several years will today be resolved, he added.
Guest of honour, O. Alem IPS narrated his personal experiences in matters relating to pensions. He appreciated the efforts made by the AG Officials to create this service, the fruits of which will be enjoyed by all.
SAI (System Automative Initiative) Service Software has been developed to process pension documents incorporating latest pay revision and other local requirements. It runs on a Linux operating system on a Oracle 10g platform. The system functions on ‘first come first serve’ basis and is programmed incorporating all local requirements like service confirmation and capture of pensioner’s photographs for future reference. The System that is linked through network will be installed at the Public grievance cell to address public queries on latest file position and will be at the service of the retired government officials on all public interview days. While the SMS Gateway is a software designed on a Oracle platform to enable pensioners to track his/her pension papers from receipt to settlement of pension case. The Gateway which is integrated with the pension database is a temporary external junction which will be constantly fed with file positions emanating from Pension section working on the new System Automative Initiative (SAI) pension software. The SMS Gateway is designed to create a direct medium with pensioners with the Office of the Accountant General to minimize disinformation and miscommunication.
Earlier, Deputy Account General (A & E), Ravikiran Ulbale delivered an elaborate presentation of this Value-Added Service, designed to provide an accessible system to all pension holders of Nagaland which was designed and developed in Chandigarh.
R. Naresh, AG (Audit) gave talks on the ‘Handing over of Pension Payment Orders/Leave Encashment Order/ GPF Final Payment Order’, he also mentioned that earlier the working system for the last 15 years was known as Voucher Level Computerization (VLC) before this system was developed. He assured that this service will ensure transparency and consistency and said that the Indian Audit & Account Service will ensure that all Government Servants get their due with the implementation of SAI.
Both the chief guest and the guest of honour received their respective Pension Orders on the occasion as first beneficiaries of SAI since coincidentally the two dignitaries were due for retirement.
The welcome address was delivered by Accountant General (A & E) V.K. Girijavallabhan who highlighted the grievances of thousands of pensioners and how the service will help solve their problems. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Sr. Audit Officer, K.M. Kabui.
