Peren, February 6 (MExN): On World Cancer Day which falls on February 4 every year, cadets of Sainik School Punglwa organized a cancer awareness campaign at the nearby villages.
Nagaland being a tribal state in India is also not free from many modern diseases. Amongst the many diseases, Cancer is one which is prevailing at a very high rate due to modern life style. The disease is one of the most confusing, commonly misdiagnosed, and poorly understood entities because of the location of the involved area.
Therefore to sensitized and educate the people on the dreadful killer disease, the Cadets of Class IX and X of Sainik School Punglwa organized a street play on cancer ‘The Silent Killer’ at Punglwa ‘A’ and Gailee Village on February 4. The Cadets were lead and guided by Kanu Barman Asst Master and Sunil Antil, Asst Master.
Besides performing the play, posters on awareness and prevention of cancer were also placed at designated place in both the villages.
In their interaction with the cadets the chairman of the village complimented and expressed their gratitude to the school authority for organizing such a beautiful and educative street play by the cadets for the villagers – making them to rededicate their lives and fight for the cause of Cancer elimination in the society.
