PUNGLWA, DECEMBER 7 (MExN): The 15th Annual Sports Meet of Sainik School Punglwa concluded with a grand closing ceremony held on November 7. The event was graced by Col Arvind Nautiyal, the Principal, who was the chief guest for the occasion.
The highlight of the annual event was the release of Voice of the Young Warriors of the Morung (VYWOM), the half-yearly newsletter of the cadets. This newsletter showcases their creative expressions and the diverse activities undertaken in the school. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Cdt Cidibe Peter.
The annual event featured several spectacular performances, including Mass PT, Flag Exercise, Aerobic Display, Zumba, Karate, and Gymnastics. The Inter-House final track events were held, where eight houses—four from the Junior category (Classes VII-IX) and four from the Senior category (Classes X-XII)—competed for the championship trophies. Events such as the 100m dash, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relay were conducted for both categories. The girl cadets also displayed their athletic talent in the 4x100m relay final.
The chief guest presented medals and trophies to the winners. The trophy for the Inter-House Athletic Meet in the Junior category was awarded to Melak House, while the Senior category trophy was lifted by Tizu House. Cdt Nepuni Osah of Melak House and Cdt Thibuto of Doyang House proved themselves to be the fastest cadets in the Junior and Senior categories respectively.
The audience was also delighted to witness the events which were organized for the parents-musical chair for the ladies and tug of war for the gents.
The Vice Principal addressed the gathering and congratulated the winners and stressed upon continual effort that had been put in by the staff to bring about such performance and display by the cadets. He also thanked the parents for their presence and their unwavering support for the school. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kavya Thakur, TGT Hindi, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
