Sainik School Punglwa celebrates Founder’s Day

Peren, May 14 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa celebrated its 9th Founder’s Day on May 14 with Yitachu, Minister for School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.   Old Boys Association (OBA) of Nagaland, dignitaries, parents and village elders joined the celebration, where the school cadets presented cultural extravaganza.   The chief guest, who was received by Group Captain Sanjay Gaekwad, Principal, Sainik School, Punglwa, was presented a Guard of Honour by the cadets of SSPN. Later, he inaugurated the Science and Arts Exhibition on theme “Digital India”. Various working models in different categories prepared by the cadets were displayed in the exhibition.   The Minister released the school quarterly magazine “VYWOM” (Voice of Young Warriors of Morung) during the cultural programme. In his address, Yitachu lauded the efforts taken by the school in providing modern facilities to the young cadets. He spoke about the rationalisation of school education policy and implementation of composite education system, wherein primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary education is interconnected, a press release received here informed. He stressed on infrastructure improvement and availability of teachers in the schools across the state. “To be successful and satisfied in life, all the students and parents should follow two cardinal principles in life i.e. the Fear of God and the Fear of Law,” he added. Stating that parents and teachers are to come together and exchange their ideas to take forward the education system, the minister said parents should not leave the children only to the school but also contribute in nurturing social values.

  Meanwhile, the school principal presented the school’s annual report, where he asserted that the school remains focussed on its objective “One aim, one goal NDA”. He mentioned that the NDA coaching which was earlier given in class XII is now being imparted from class XI onwards. The creation of NDA cell with rich study material is another such step, he said. He also highlighted the achievement of the school in the academic session 2015-16, wherein Cadet Akung Newmai secured 10 CGPA in AISSE. The principal also pointed out the recent initiatives taken by the school for all round development of the cadets – up-gradation of the science labs, creation of billiards and table tennis rooms, and construction for indoor sports complex and tennis court.   After the cultural programme, Yitachu gave away the trophies to the prize winners. Best in Academics (Individual) was presented to Cadet Keshav Raj, Best Sportsman of the Year to Cadet Suman Kumar, Best in Officer Like Qualities to Cadet Imeka Z Awomi, Best Academic House Trophy to Saramati House, and the prestigious Cock House Trophy (Best house in overall) for the academic year 2015-16 to Japhu House.
