Sainik School Punglwa marks 19th Rising Day with sports, alumni interaction

Sainik School Punglwa, May 13 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa  (SSP) celebrated its 19th Rising Day on May 12 with a series of events combining sports, alumni interaction, and ceremonial observances.

According to a press release from SSP, the celebration featured the finals of the Inter-House Volleyball Championship, a motivational address by alumnus Khesito Yhokha, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a community meal for cadets and staff.

The Inter-House Volleyball Championship, which began on May 4, concluded with the junior final between Pauna House and Melak House, and the senior final between Japfu House and Tizu House. Melak House emerged champions in the junior category, while Japfu House clinched the senior title.

Cadet Namit of Pauna House was adjudged Best Player in the junior category, while Cadet Haulimchu Chang of Japfu House received the Best Player award in the senior division.

A major highlight of the celebration was the visit of Assistant Commandant Khesito Yhokha of the Central Reserve Police Force, an alumnus of the school, who recently received top honours at the CRPF Academy, including the Sword of Honour and the Home Minister’s Cup.

Addressing the cadets, Yhokha encouraged them to work hard and maintain discipline in pursuit of success. The session was followed by an interactive interaction with students.

The celebration concluded with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony joined by the school’s two junior-most cadets, Cadet Koklila Sangtam and Cadet Konjong P Nemdaklee.

Principal Col (Dr) Smita Misra extended greetings to the school fraternity, distributed trophies to the winners, and felicitated Yhokha for inspiring the next generation of cadets.
