Wokha, August 10 (MExN): Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) conducted an awareness programme on OSC functioning on August 9 at Springdale School, Wokha.
According to a DIPR report, Myingthunglo Odyuo, an intern under OSC, spoke on the different types of violence. Briefing the students Odyuo said that beneficiaries are women and children/girls below 18 years. The beneficiaries can avail integrated support and assistance from the Centre facilitating immediate emergency and non- emergency services including medical, legal, psychological and counseling support.
Advocate, Nancy, Case Worker OSC, Wokha dwelled on the protection of children from sexual offences Act, 2012 (POCSO), where she stated that the Act was enacted to provide protection of children from sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography, while safeguarding the interest of child at every stage of judicial process.
She also explained the students about the four private areas of human body, adding the good touch and bad touch to make them aware that if anyone touches them inappropriately in the private areas making them feel uncomfortable and uneasy they should immediately complain to their parents, teachers or elders whom they trust or who can address the issue to the Police.
The team also distributed flyers and pamphlets on Domestic Violence, Cyber crime and toll free number 181to the students and teachers.
