DIMAPUR, JUNE 21 (MExN): The Salesian College of Higher Education held a seminar on June 21 under the topic ‘Social Behaviour Change: Promotion of Routine Immunisation and Climate Change & Environment Sustainability.’ The seminar was organised by Salesian College in collaboration with NE SBC Alliance, Secretariat (Don Bosco University & UNICEF partnership) with resource persons Daisinglung Sebastian Kamei, an alumni of Salesian College.

The event highlighted the importance of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) which is an initiative by UNICEF that aims at providing safe drinking water, clean toilets and proper sanitation facilities to every child across the world to reduce the transmission of diseases. The speaker emphasised on the importance of the availability of clean water and proper toilets for children in the educational institutions and called for the practice of Solid-Liquid Waste Management. The speaker also talked about the vulnerability of children to climate changes and how it affects their health and nutrition.

Promotion of Routine Immunisation was another crucial highlight of the event, where the speaker spoke to the students and faculty members about the importance and purpose of vaccination to a child for their healthy development and the prevention of life-threatening diseases and how a student can help in promoting routine immunisation in a community.

The programme concluded with an encouragement to participants for a call to action and to inculcate sustainable practices into their daily lives while making sure to educate the public about the importance of vaccination and health care among children.
