Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) conducted a three-day training programme on “Scientific Production Technology in Cereal and Kharif Crops” for ATMA functionaries from March 25 to 27.
The training featured resource persons from the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, and the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre. The resource persons included Prof Dr T Gohain, Head of the Department of Agronomy, Dr Hillel M Chishi, Dr Lizabeni Kithan, and Dr Harendra Verma.
The sessions covered topics such as scientific production technologies for millets and maize, precision farming as a tool for modern agriculture, scientific production of rice in the NE region, weed, pest and disease management, nutrient and water management, and the importance and scope of rice cultivation in Nagaland.
As part of the programme, participants were also taken for field visits to the Department of Agronomy laboratory and the ICAR farm and laboratory.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Deputy Project Director, SAMETI, Yezaho Swu, while the valedictory address was delivered by Director SAMETI and Principal IETC, Medziphema, Bodevi Shuya. Feedback on the training programme was shared by the participants, and certificates were awarded to the trainees.
A total of 29 ATMA functionaries attended the training programme.
