SAMETI training focuses on ‘Doubling Farmers Income’

Medziphema, August 21 (MExN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised an online training on “Doubling Farmers Income: Market Led Agricultural Extension” for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema on August 20 and 21. 

The training was aimed at working towards vision 2022- doubling farmers’ income through market led agricultural extension and educating them to help farmers to have better access to markets.

SAMETI Director & Principal IETC i/c Dr Watimongla Jamir, in her inaugural speech reiterated on the importance of doubling farmer’s income. She stated that majority of the farmers are still suffering from traditional marketing problems like lack of adequate scientific storage facilities, grading and processing facilities, transportation facilities and marketing information services. As extension functionaries, she encouraged the participants to assist the farmers in solving problems faced in marketing of their produce.

Resource persons for the training were PC Roy, Rtd Senior Zonal Manager (Marketing) i/c, NERAMAC, GOI and Vikaho Chophi, Deputy Project Director SAMETI Medziphema. Topics on Farmers Double – Income Generations: Marketing Strategic Plan; MOVCD or Atma – Nirbhar Krishi (Self Reliant); Market Led Agricultural Extension and Linking Farmers to Markets were covered.

On the whole, the training saw a good turnout of participants from all districts of the state. Feedback was received from all the participants and e-Certificates were forwarded to the participants.
