DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 9 (MExN): Sangzi FC won the 25th edition of Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship by defeating Khulioh King FC in the final on November 9. The match was decided through penalties. Sangzi FC won 3-2. In the first half, shellem of Khulioh King FC scored an early goal when he found the net in the 3rd minute. Salu of Sangzi Fc equalized in 88th minutes, with both teams locked at 1-1 at the end of the stipulated time. Neither of the teams could find the net during extra time that ensued.
The match went to penalties with the Sangzi FC custodian showing excellent goal keeping skill by saving three shots. Sangzi FC bagged a cash prize of Rs two lakh fifty thousand along with the trophy, certificates and medals. Runners up Khuliol King FC received Rs one lakh fifty thousand along with certificates and medals.
The ‘best losing team’ prize was given to to Ngangpong FC and Scavenger hunt FC. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs twenty five thousand each along with certificates. To the most promising team a cash prize of five thousand was awarded to Donching Yangmei FC A.
In the individual category, the golden glove was bagged by Kumzuk Chang of Scavenger Hunt FC and golden ball was awarded to Kedon Kweho of Sangzi FC. Awangbo of Ngangpong FC and Kelep of Scavenger hunt FC shared the golden boot award by scoring seven goals each. Cash prize of fifteen thousand each and certificates were awarded to the individual category winners.
The closing ceremony was graced by Jamithung Lotha, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang. The closing function ended with prize distribution and flag down ceremony, followed by fireworks display.
