TUENSANG, OCTOBER 3 (MExN): The Tuensang Town Council as part of its ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM) feted sanitation workers on October 2. The programme was held in collaboration with the Chang Students Union Tuensang Town, Sangtam Students Union Tuensang Town, Yimchunger Students Union Tuensang Town, Khiamniungan Students Union Tuensang Town and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Tuensang.

They also conducted a cleanliness drive of the entire town starting from 6:00 am October 2. The drive saw the participation of 140 student volunteers, NYK volunteers along with all the sanitary workers under Tuensang Town Council. It aimed to create awareness among the students as well as citizens of the town to keep their surrounding clean and hygienic.

The Tuensang Town Council as part of its ongoing AKAM 2021 felicitated a total of  27 sanitary workers  under the ULB,  which included 6 sanitary  vehicle drivers, 11 Sanitary workers, and 10 sweepers at its office complex. 

The programme was chaired by the ADC & Administrator, Tuensang Town Council, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS. He thanked the workers for their services and offered them words of encouragement. Future co-operation was conveyed to sanitary workers by the Administrator in his short speech.
