Sanphure village today organised Mongmong cultural programme with Z. Tsangkhuchu, CDPO and DWO in-charge Kiphire as chief guest at the local ground. A host of officers, political leaders, area leaders, invitees and citizens witnessed the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Z. Tsangkhuchu said festival is a time to share love and joy with family, friends and community and to renew friendship and unity.
He pointed out that Sanphur village is one of the oldest villages in the area and more than 10 villages have been established out of Sanphur. He asked the elders of Sanphur to be a guardian and role model in the area in all fronts.
Appreciating the bond of unity that the villagers have, the chief guest cautioned, there may be many forces to break the unity of the village, but he asked the villagers to be united in all fronts so that developmental activities and progress is seen in the village. Millet harvesting song, bamboo string music, salt making process, jhum field cleaning song, water fetching folk song, paddy husking song, engagement song, tattoo art making display, folk dance, mithun/buffalo tail cutting as feast of merit display were some of the cultural activities performed during the day.
