Sao Chang College Principal under scrutiny

DIMAPUR, Sept 9 (mexn): The Principal of Sao Chang Government College continued to remain under scrutiny over alleged mishandling of funds meant for procuring chemicals and other science apparatus for use in the college science department. In this regard, the Purchase Board of Sao Chang College rebutted the claim made by the Principal who had earlier stated that money for unsupplied materials amounting to more than Rs.3 (three) lakhs was in the possession of the college Purchase Board. 

A press communiqué issued by I. Elem Chang, Member of the Purchase Board, Sao Chang College, Tuensang dismissed the claim made by the Principal and pointed out that the purchase board existed only in name and nothing had so far been entrusted to it for procuring any items nor did it possess any portion of the amount of Rs. 35 lakhs sanctioned for the college. “Therefore, the purchase board is surprised and concerned to come across the statement made by the Principal. Before God and man, it is necessary to make it clear once and for all that Sao Chang College purchase Board does not possess single paise sanctioned for the college and that it has nothing to do with the supply of goods, supplied or un- supplied”, informed Elem Chang. 

The Purchase Board member also stated that the board was compelled to issue this clarification so that the public do not misconstrue the information given by the Principal. “If the Principal is puzzled he is requested to come to the college though he is on leave and sort out the things himself and present a true picture of the whole affair”.  Elem Chang also disclosed that on inquiry the College cashier had reported that the whole amount thus sanctioned for the college Science stream was drawn by the Principal himself and not a single rupee was left in the college coffer. 

“The details are available in the college for any interested individual or party”. The Purchase Board of Sao Chang College meanwhile has welcomed any group or organizations to look into the matter and to take appropriate action against the culprit if found.
