SAPO, Mao Council, Maram Khullen agree to resolve land dispute under customary laws

The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO), Maram Khullen Village and Mao Council with four authorized delegates from concerned organization/party have undertaken ‘Arbitration Undertaking’ recently. Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization (TPO) officials told this to media persons here today at Hotel Japfu.  

Making available a copy of ‘Arbitration Undertaking,’ at the press conference, it stated that the present forest land dispute between the Southern Angamis, the Mao Council and Maram Khullen Village authority over Kezoltsa/Koziirii/Kazing Karyi/Dziikou area has been taken up by the Board of Arbitrator (BOA) constituted by the TPO.  

It stated that all the three parties, fully concurring that the land belong to the people and not to any state or government, agreed to resolve the dispute based on Naga customary laws and its usages (Tenyimi) and not to resort to approach any other court(s). It also resolved to abide by the decision of the BOA and cooperate with the TPO for strict implementation of the decision given by the Arbitral Tribunal.  

In view of the aforesaid undertaking, it also agreed not to destroy the forest- flora and fauna, not to collect forest produce, not to permit hunting, not to allow any road connectivity to the mentioned forest. “To this effect the existing road(s) shall be cut-off,” it added.  

“To this pledge we commit that in the event of any violation or failure to abide by the above mentioned points the BOA/TPO may invite penalty of minimum Rs. 20 lakhs fine or even up to the extent of ‘excommunication’ depending on the degree of default,” stated the ‘Arbitration Undertaking.’  

NPO, APO endorsed to resolve issue over taxi unions misunderstanding

The Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization (TPO) today stated that it has brought to its notice that owing to some differences between various taxi unions plying between Kohima and Senapati districts, smooth flow of public conveyance has been hindered and for which the people are suffering.  

In this regard, the presidential council of TPO deliberated and has endorsed the Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO) Senapati and Angami Public Organization (APO) to take the matter and bring about a tangible solution to the misunderstanding.  

Meanwhile, pending a resolution of the impasse, the House directed the concerned parties to refrain from all activities hampering and disturbing the commuters, especially during this festive season.  

This was stated in a release issued by TPO president Timikha Koza and general secretary Vipopal Kintso.
