The 75th anniversary of the Southern Angami Students’ Union began this evening at Sweba, Viswema Village with Kevithuto Sophie IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Government of Nagaland as the introductory guest.
Sophie, in his opening remark reminisced and acknowledged Lt Vipratso Pusa, the first President of SASU and other pioneers who laid the foundation for the Union. He appreciated the theme of the Anniversary “Igniting Excellence” as to him it means unlocking ones full potential. He challenged the delegates to know, identify and explore ones strengths and weaknesses and to be aware of one’s domain and involvement.
He urged the delegates not to depend merely on government jobs citing that not getting a government job doesn’t mean one is unemployed. In his concluding statement he cited that religion and culture differs and urged the audience that our culture is our identity which all begins at home.
The programme was chaired by Vizokho Zashümo, Former President ASU.
Nosezol Valeo, Pastor CRC Viswema invoked God’s blessings for the programme and the celebration. Ketholel Koso, President, Viswema Students’ Union delivered the welcome note. Vimenu Sachü chanted ‘Praise His name’.
The number of delegates registered on the first day was 855. The three days event of the Anniversary is being celebrated from 8-10 January at Sweba, Viswema Village.
