SASU appeal to Directorate of Medical/Health Services

In this column, the Seyochung Area Students’ Union, in the interest of the entire public under Kiphire District, has the favour to endorse before your esteemed authority for your kind and instant action, please. Sir, the Union with great anticipation wants to enumerate grievances which have been endured both by the public and Hospital Staffs since more then decade. The Civil Hospital Kiphire had been up-graded from 25 bedded to 50 bedded on 15th December, 1995 with highly decorated Memorial Stone on the building. In fact, it had merely up-graded to 50 bedded without providing any facilities except engraved Memorial Stone for the entire public. The hoax policy could not be tolerated. Therefore, the Union urges higher ups to take positive steps to improve the debacle condition of the Hospital. The enormities should be mended instantly with restoration/installation of all the necessities for more public safety in fast changing environment at the earliest.

It is situated in one of the remotest area with less economy in the state. The general public have to face many problems regarding Health Care. As a result many precious lives had lost in Hospital with non-availability of most basis needs in Hospital, particularly; the patients in fatal condition could not be treated properly in Hospital with shortage of all the necessities, so those patients have to be advised by the Doctor to take treatment outside. But to public grieve patients meet their fate on the way to Kohima, Dimapur and Tuensang, etc. as they could not longer endure their pains and sufferings due to distance and inconvenience of roads. Therefore, the concerned Department has to stress more and consider in a specific way for Civil Hospital Kiphire without delay. Intended to avoid public needs may lead to rowdy environment and responsibilities shall be held by the concerned Department in any manner.

On the Union enquiry, the District Hospital Kiphire have one Doctor, nine Nurses and few field Staffs at present. In this regard, the Union resented to the concerned Department for the negligence. It is observed that more than 100 patients are in queue for treatment but to every body dismay only few patients could be treated in a day and more patients could not be treated on time due to shortage of Doctors and needs in the Hospital which lead to patients to worse condition.

Therefore, the SASU, on behalf of general public Kiphire District, appeal to your concerned authority to up-grade Civil Hospital Kiphire to full-fledged District Hospital like other District Head quarters Hospitals with the immediate posting of specialized Doctors in various field and it should be headed by Medical Superintendent along with restoration/installation of all the required materials like Generator, X-ray, Ultra Sound, Medicines, Oxygen, Gynecologist and the Hospital Building should be extended for public safety. The Union further insisted higher ups to physically visit Hospital and make necessary assessment on the above mentioned grievances and needs.
