
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 (MExN): The Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) on August 27 organized a career talk & Tenyidie promotional competitions at St Paul School, Phesama.
Addressing the delegates, SASU President Zhovito Rikha highlighted that the union organized the said program to give opportunity to the area students for exposure to learning and igniting the spirit of competition.
During early part of the day, Richard Belho, award winning architect and entrepreneur, exhorted and educated the gathering on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship.’ Onongoto Soleho, Chief Mentor, IHub & SEC NSC, Dept. of Science & Technology, gave a thorough presentation on technical courses and Vikhoto Richa, Under Secretary, Government of Nagaland, spoke to the students on the civil services.
The program was chaired by Zayiekhoto Sale, Education Secretary, SASU; invocation was pronounced by Fr. Charles d’souza, special song presented by Megono Tase and Letso Mekro; while Vice President SASU delivered the summing up for the career talk.
In the second event of the day, competitions in Tenyidie were held for Singing (Tsali), Story Writing (Mhadzekethu) and Newspaper Reading (Thedzeleshü Kephrü) under the theme ‘Tenyidie chü kehie mu pekrushü khe.’
Congratulating the union for organizing a very meaningful competition, Bisevi Nakhro, President, Angami Students’ Union, emphasized on the need to promote and preserve the Tenyidie language. He lamented that many parents are now choosing to teach English/Nagamese to their children over one’s own dialect/language and further stated that it is pertinent to rightly speak and write in Tenyidie.
Nakhro, also challenged the students’ to excel in their own profession and prepare for competitive exams with utmost sincerity. He mentioned that aspirants should work hard and be successful in various competitive exams. Speaking at the event, Daso Paphino, Vice President, Ura Academy also highlighted on the significance, origin, scope and diversity of Tenyidie.
