Kohima, October 10 (MExN): The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has urged the Commissioner of Nagaland to immediately constitute an independent, high-level inquiry committee to examine allegations and grievances concerning the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire.
In a representation addressed to the Commissioner, the union referred to a complaint submitted by T Likhumse Sangtam and Tsathrise Rüdy on October 1, 2026, which was acknowledged by the Commissioner’s office vide Receipt No. 4741 dated October 5, 2026.
The union said the nature and seriousness of the issues raised warranted an independent and impartial inquiry, adding that the allegations, if established, could have implications for administrative accountability, public confidence and the welfare of people in Kiphire district.
SASU urged the authorities to ensure that the inquiry was transparent, time-bound and free from any conflict of interest. It also called for appropriate administrative or disciplinary action in accordance with the law and applicable service rules if the allegations were substantiated.
Emphasising that its demand was made in the larger public interest and without prejudging the guilt or innocence of any individual, the union said continued delay or inaction could further erode public confidence in the district administration.
The union appealed to the Commissioner to initiate the inquiry without further delay and communicate the action taken at the earliest. The representation was signed by SASU president Muwali T Sangtam and general secretary Vitsala S Sangtam.
