Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): Launching a micro saving initiative, the North Eastern Drug/HIV Training Centre (NEDHIV), Dimapur launched a Self Help Group (SHG) movement called “Save a Rupee a Day” on May 19 last at CHC-ICTC Centre, Niuland.
Explaining the concept of the venture, Director of NEDHIV, Joe Ngamkhuchung termed it as “possibility thinking” and said that “One Rupee A Day-is possible even for a child”.
The movement is to spread to all regions with NEDHIV presence and envisions bringing together of over 5000 individuals into the micro saving initiative. Apart from promoting savings, the SHGs would propagate healthy lifestyle within the group as well as the village communities, stated a press release issued by Romeo Gangmei Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator, NEDHIV, Dimapur.
The release stated that the GB of Church Colony, Niuland, Vihepu who was the chief guest during the function, appreciated and encouraged the venture which he said had a potential to bring about far reaching economic development in the rural areas.
The release added that the function, which was attended by thirty participants, was chaired by Garland Achumi, ORW, ICTC Niuland CHC, while Agholi, ORW ICTC Niuland, welcomed all and Zheholi, invoked God’s blessings on the gathering and the venture, the release further added.
