SAYO to enforce ‘Plastic Free Dzükou’

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The careless disposal of plastic waste in and around Dzükou valley over the years has not only become an eyesore but also greatly endangers the pristine environment. 

To protect and preserve the Dzükou valley Southern Angami Youth Organisation is undertaking a three day social work to clean up the area from May 21 to 23, stated a DIPR report. 

SDO(C) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar  lauding  the initiative of  SAYO said that while the government has declared the ban on plastics it is on the public to implement it and added that for plastic ban to be successful each person need to play their part.

The SAYO President Zakieleto Tsükrü informed that inorder to enforce strict compliance of a ‘Plastic Free Dzükou’ the two entry point to Southern Dzükou will be manned. SAYO also plans to declare Dzükou valley Plastic Free Zone on June 5 coinciding with the World Environment Day. A total of 150 volunteers led by SAYO office bearers will be camping in Dzükou valley to clean the area of plastics and compost waste materials.
