Sazolie College felicitates university topper

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): A felicitation programme was organised by the Governing Body of Sazolie College, Jotsoma, for Rhonbeni C Lotha who topped the 2021 undergraduate exams conducted by Nagaland University.

According to updates from the college’s Media Cell, the Gold Medallist was presented with a cash award of Rs 10,000 and a citation, by the governing body chairperson TK Angami. 

The chairperson wished Rhonbeni the best in all her future endeavours and assured her that the doors of Sazolie College would always be open for her if she wished to work in the college in any capacity after her studies. He also acknowledged the Principal, faculty and staff for their commendable service, the release stated.

As per the release, Rhonbeni, who will be pursuing her further studies from Madras University, attributed her success to God, her teachers and family members. Following the advice of a teacher, she mentioned that from the first semester, she always made it a point to pray before her studies. For this reason, she could overcome the hurdles that came her way and managed to get good grades, she said. Apart from her studies, she said that participating in the different activities and programmes organised by the college enabled her to build her confidence and helped her in various ways, the release stated.

Others speakers— Keneise-ü Gabriellina, Head of Department of Psychology and Dr Pushpa Nakhro, the Academic Dean, both lauded the topper and said she was a “very disciplined and hardworking student who was able to perform consistently well throughout the six semesters.”

College Principal Dr Kangzangding Thou, meanwhile, mentioned that the college has produced good results and a good number of toppers in the university exams over the years. To promote education in the area, he said that the college management gives free-studentship to three students, at a time, from Jotsoma village and offers scholarship to toppers studying in BA and MA. 

The programme was attended by the members of the college governing body, faculty members and friends and relatives of the topper. Nzan Kikon, the chaplain of the college, offered a special prayer of thanksgiving, the release stated.
