MP and state Education Minister, CM Chang inaugurating SBI’s Hornbill Premium Banking Centre in Dimapur on May 17.

DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): A first of its kind in Nagaland, the State Bank of India has opened an exclusive banking facility targeting high net worth customers. The facility, called Hornbill Premium Banking Centre (HPBC), located at Tosakum Complex, Circular Road, assures to provide exclusive banking service to high-value customers. “Here, the bank will choose the customers and we’ll give them the exclusive banking experience,” said Biswajeet Bhattacharjee, Assistant General Manager, SBI, Dimapur at the inauguration ceremony today.
Member of Parliament and State Education Minister, CM Chang was the chief guest, who formally inaugurated the opening of the banking facility. Citing the long queues and untold number of hours spend by customers at SBI branches to make a single transaction, Chang in his address said that the bank should focus on reducing the time spent by customers. “Customers should not be allowed to spend long hours to complete one transaction.”
On taking banking to even the remotest corners, Chang said that people in remote villages of the state spend more than what they actually deposit while travelling to a district headquarter to make a transaction. In this regard, he said that it would be of great help if the bank would look into the problems faced by people in remote locations, at the same time making them understand the advantages of banking.
HPBC, according to Bhattacharjee, will cater exclusive personal services while the other SBI branches will take care of “normal banking.” “We’ll have limited number of customers but we’ll try to give the best banking facilities,” he said. Two sets of computers were also donated to Bethany Orphanage Home as part of the SBI’s community service programme.
