The State Board of Teacher Education (SBTE) under the State Council of Education & Research Training (SCERT) was constituted to oversee the conduct of the Pre-Service Teachers Education (PSTE) and the Inter-service Certificate for Primary Teachers Education (CPTE) being implemented by the SCERT and the DIETs and for the registration of unemployed educational professional degree holders following the new recruitment policy for the teachers announced by the state government during January 2008.
In conformity with the RTE Act 2009, the SBTE has been mandated to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) from the academic session 2013. This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report of SCERT (2012-13) tabled in the just concluded assembly session by parliamentary secretary Deo Nukhu. During the academic year 2011, the SBTE has successfully conducted and declared the results of the 6th Batch 6 months CPTE course and 6 months ECCE course.
The report said that till date, the number of unemployed professional degree holders registered with the SBTE for teacher recruitment are as follows; B. Ed candidates- 290, ECCE candidates- 8, ELTI candidates- 8 and PSTE candidates- 576.
