Mokokchung, May 4 (DIPR): Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir has expressed serious concern over the appointment of bogus teachers in schools and warned that if it is not done away with immediately there would be far reaching consequences in the Naga society. Addressing the Golden Jubilee celebration of Town Higher Secondary School Mokokchung today, he said that bogus teachers are laying a bogus foundation for a generation whom the Governor described as leaders of tomorrow.
Stating that the world is changing very fast and waits for no one, Jamir said that the greatest challenge before the State is to make the present education system in tune with the changing world to enable our youth to cope with the future. He said that the vast opportunities being brought by the current globalisation can be availed only when our education system is in tune with the changes. Showering his admiration upon the Town Higher Secondary School – English K.G. School as was known then – for providing quality education in the past fifty years, the Maharashtra Governor called upon the School to continue its commitment to shaping and moulding young minds.
Addressing the celebration, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi, an alumnus of the School, also showered his admiration and appreciation to the yester-teachers for making him what he is today. Alemtemshi also nostalgically shared his experience on his first day at school with the participants.
The Jubilee function was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, senior government officials and social workers, many of whom were past students of the School. Bendangnukshi Longkumer, chairman of the Managing Board of THSSM, presented a brief history of the School.
