Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland today attributed the delay in Scheduled Tribes Students Scholarship due to the non-release the 2nd& final Installment by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. According to a DIPR report, the H&TE through a press release had clarified that the department had received only the 1st instalment Scholarship from the Ministry and the same has already been deposited to the account of the students/beneficiaries. The department further claimed that along with the Utilization Certificate of the 1st instalment, it has written to the Ministry for early release of the 2nd& final installment. In this connection, the H&TE informed the ENCSU “not to demand payment against the non-release of installment, but to pray for early release of the 2nd& final Installment by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.” The clarification came against the backdrop of Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) reminding the department on November 4 about its earlier demand to disburse the scholarship within seven days counting from November 1. The ENCSU had also asked the concerned students to “stay mentally & physically prepared to face any harsh situation in the event of failing to fulfill our demands.”
