
Morung Express News Kiphire | June 5 The Kiphire District Legal Service Authority today observed World Environment Day with students from all the schools and college in Kiphire town at Zisaji Presidency College auditorium with Khuzah Jurry SDPO. The distribution of cash and certificate of the placard held on May 31 on ‘World Word No Tobacco Day’ was also held. Addressing the students’ community, Khuzah Jurry SDPO said, “Students in Kiphire need to educate the importance of environment to parents and to the family members as the quality of life depend on the quality of environment we live in and asked the students to take proactive role in preserving and protecting the environment.” The SDPO added, “on a day like this we should plant trees so that when it grown it should become part of you and you should also become part of that plant that is how we have to take care of the environment. By planting trees we have to repair the damage we have done to the environment.” He also gave away the cash and certificate to Tsarimong of LHSS, ICEU ZPC and Relila of LHSS for the placard competition. Mezivolu Therieh, NJC Chief Judicial Magistrate & Secretary KDLSA who gave power point presentation said that protection and preservation of environment is enshrined in the directive principals, fundamental rights and fundamental duties of the constitution. She also touched on the environmental laws and said, “places like Kiphire is very close to nature where air and water is very pure and clean where one can go to bed even without washing ones faces which is not possible in the cities due to pollution, but also caution if the citizens does not take care one fine day the healthy environment will become polluted.” Asela Rothrong, Assistant Teacher Saramati School gave a welcome note where she stressed on the theme of the day ‘Connecting people to nature’. The day was also marked by planting tree outside the district court premises.
