Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The Department of Soil and Water Conservation, in collaboration with KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA Jarnapani, organized a one-day Gram Sabha for the School Soil Health Card at Eklavya Model Residential School, Diphupar. The event brought together students and farmers to discuss vital aspects of soil health.

The program was chaired by Nrithung, Assistant of Soil and Water Conservation, who welcomed all participants. Kevimeo Khatso, District Soil and Water Conservation Officer of Dimapur, emphasized the importance of Soil Health Cards, which illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of soil conditions. He explained that based on the Soil Health Card report, agricultural and allied departments can formulate necessary treatments to enhance soil productivity. Khatso also highlighted the significance of macro, secondary, and micro nutrients for plant health, noting that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare introduced the School Soil Health Card program to raise early awareness about soil health.

Dr Moanaro, Senior Technical Assistant at KVK, elaborated on the importance of assessing soil status and the judicious use of nutrients and fertilizers. The program concluded with a word of thanks from Pangerkumba, Assistant of Soil and Water Conservation. Following the discussions, Soil Health Cards were distributed to attendees, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
