SDO (C) Chümou cautions against scammers

DIMAPUR, JULY 20 (MExN): SDO (C) Chümoukedima, Chumbenthung Murry has informed that reports have been received about scammers calling or sending text messages claiming to be officials from the 'PMMVY' office.

“They attempt to hack bank accounts, and their modus operandi is as follows: The scammer calls a person seeking bank account details. A QR code is sent on Whatsapp to scan, with assurance to transfer money to their bank account under the PMMVY scheme. Some amount is credited to the bank account by the scammers. After a few minutes, the bank account is hacked and drained,” the SDO said in a notice.

He instructed all concerned functionaries to widely disseminate information that these calls do not originate from the PMMVY cell, and bank account details are never asked for over the phone, nor are QR codes sent. Those who receive these calls can report to the District Hub for the Empowerment of Women (DHEW) or call the women's helpline (9485239098).

It may be mentioned that the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), under Mission Shakti, is a conditional maternity benefit programme of the Government of India. All eligible beneficiaries can avail of the Scheme free of cost by applying online through citizen registration on https:/pmmvy.nic.in or through the nearest Anganwadi Centers or CDPO office or DHEW attached to the DC office.
