Bhandari, August 12 (MExN): The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Bhandari, has reiterated the need for a Senior Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari, and resolved to pursue the matter with the concerned department.
According to the State DIPR, the issue was discussed during the SDPDB meeting held at the conference hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House, Bhandari, on August 12.
Medical Officer (AYUSH) Dr Lydia, while apprising the board of the present functioning of the CHC, stated that the centre is operating without a Chief Medical Officer following the transfer of the previous officer, as no replacement has been posted.
She also highlighted a shortage of staff and stressed the need for a gynaecologist to cater to women seeking healthcare from across the vast subdivision.
Dr Lydia also informed the board that a sensitisation programme on vector-borne diseases was recently conducted at Bhandari under the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP). She stated that no cases of vector-borne diseases had been reported in the area at present.
The board also discussed power supply concerns in the Yanmhon area. Yanmhon Area Public Organisation (YAPO) President N Thungdemo Tungoe, through a representation, sought upgradation of the existing 11KV power supply to 33KV, citing insufficient capacity and frequent load shedding and power cuts affecting 20 villages.
He said the situation was affecting households, education, farming, essential services, business and commercial activities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha directed that a rationalisation and feasibility report be prepared and presented at the next meeting for further consideration.
Lotha also commended the successful completion of the Census exercise and acknowledged the role of census officials, departmental officers, civil society organisations and the Bhandari Town Council. He urged board members to discharge their assigned duties and extend full cooperation towards the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
