Kohima, June 1 (MExN): The inauguration programme for the second batch of homestay training in Kohima was inaugurated on June 1. This programme is in partnership with NSDC under Special projects PMKVY.
Pastor Zhavi Kere blessed the programme through prayer. Hekani Jakhalu, Chair-YouthNet, in her welcome address mentioned the importance of entrepreneurship which will economically empower them. She also added that this programme is a first of its kind in the country and that the training program was moduled in such a way that it suits the unique culture and environment of Nagaland. She encouraged the trainees along with the officials to prayerfully start the training program and not to let this opportunity pass.
Vede Koza, Tourist Officer- Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland shared her experiences saying that the tourists they host visit Nagaland to experience the Naga culture and lifestyle. She also emphasized the importance of being skilled and well trained in order to provide the guests a home away from home experience. She talked about the importance of hygiene and encouraged the trainees to focus on local delicacies and local products in their area.
Vidile Sale, The Kigwema Youth President, on his speech motivated the trainees to not miss a single day of the training as this may be once in a lifetime opportunity. He shared his dream of creating and transforming Kigwema Village as a Homestay Village. The inaugural programme was chaired by Neingusel Luho, YouthNet.
The training will start from June 4, 2018. The training will be a blend of theory and practical where the trainees will be taught using audio visual aids. Some of the topics taken up during the training are communication skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, customer service, food and beverage, hospitality, etc.
