A three day long Sekrenyi Special (Jubilee Rütso) in commemoration of the silver jubilee celebration of Keneikhrie Peli (No.12) is scheduled to take place on March 10 at T. Khel, Kohima village.
The inaugural function will start from 11:00 AM at Kijü-Ba, T. Khel, Kohima Village. Organizing committee officials told media persons this evening that the objective of organizing the Sekrenyi Special is to promote and preserve the rich culture and traditions which is diminishing day by day.
Sekrenyi is the premier festival of the Angami Nagas. The inaugural function will be chaired by Kezhazer Whuorie while Visielie Solo will invoke Gods blessing for the programme. The Welcome address will be delivered by Vilanyü Phewhuo while the report of Keneikhrie Peli (No.12) will be briefed by Thepfuhulie Belho, convener of the organizing committee.
Sekrenyi greetings will be shared by K. Neingunyü Sekhose, president of the Angami Public Organization while a traditional blessing will be pronounced by Neila-o Suohu. A Folk song will be presented by Keyie-o Zatsu.
Traditional songs and merry making will surround the event on day one. The programme will be followed by Hiepou Rütso. The programme is scheduled to go on till March 12.
Ranging from the age of 30 and above, Keneikhrie Peli (No.12) having a strength of 80 plus members, has already constructed a waiting shed at Sepfuzou. It has also conducted a medical camp at Chedema.
Meanwhile, the Keneikhrie Peli (No.12) will host Tsütuonuomia Sekrenyi 2013 Inter Peli Meet on March 16 at the Government LP School Ground, T. Khel from 9:00 AM onwards. Peli No 10- 17 will compete for the indigenous games at the meet.
