Chümoukedima, February 18 (MExN): The Khelo India Centre (KIC) Chekiye, in collaboration with the Chekiye Village Sports Association, will organise a non-residential selection trial for Under-14 boys and girls on February 28 for the 2026–27 batch of its Football Academy.
The trials will be conducted at Chekiye Local Ground from 9.30 am and are open to eligible players from Chümoukedima district.
The selection process aims to identify promising young footballers and provide them structured coaching at the KIC academy. Selected players will be inducted into the academy and undergo systematic daily training under the Khelo India programme.
Participants have been asked to report at the venue in proper athletic attire. Bonafide residents of the district have been invited to attend the trials.
Khelo India Centres have been established to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure at the district level, identify and nurture young talent, and promote mass participation in sports. The initiative also seeks to generate employment opportunities for former sportspersons and build a sustainable sporting ecosystem in the country.
